Marin Teknikk to design large Multipurpose Diving Support & Construction Vessel for Ultra Deep Solutions

Marin Teknikk AS has entered into a contract with a Chinese yard for design & engineering delivery for a large Multipurpose Diving Support & Construction Vessel to Ultra Deep Solutions (UDS) in Singapore. The vessel will be of the MT6027 DSCV design (“The Red Class”), with an 18 men twin bell saturation system, for operations down to 300 meters.

MT6027 DSCV is an advanced Diving & Construction Vessel developed for demanding operations worldwide. The vessel will have a length of 142.9 meters and a breadth of 27 meters, accommodation for 140 persons, two cranes, a 400 T offshore crane with depth capability to 5200 m single fall and 3200m dual fall, and one 40 T offshore crane for operation down to 300m. In addition, arrangement for 2 WROV’s (unmanned remote operated submarines/robots) for operations down to 3000 meters ocean depth.

The vessel will be ready for delivery 1st quarter 2017.
Marin Teknikk has designed a functional Diving Support & Construction vessel with high focus on safety, following up designing environment-friendly, modern and advanced multifunctional offshore diving support construction vessels.
The vessel’s 1,500m² open deck space and deck strength 10 ton/m² and a smaller area at 650 m2, creates a good platform for transport of equipment and tools to and from oil- and subsea fields, prepared for world‐wide operations in the less deep and ultra-deep oil and gas sector projects.

The vessel will be built according to Det Norske Veritas class with the new SPS code; DNVGL + 1A1, EO, SPS, DSV-SAT, Diving System-SAT, NAUT-OSV(A), CLEAN DESIGN, DYNPOS AUTRO, COMF-C(3) V(3), ICE C, CRANE, HELDK-SH, DK(+), BIS, Winterized Basic.

“We are very pleased to sign this contract”, states Sales Director of Marin Teknikk Richard Gjerde. “We feel comfortable with the experience and knowledge in UDS, and have been working close with UDS the last year to develop one of the largest and advanced DP3 diving vessels in the offshore industry. This contract shows again MT’s strong position in the OSV market and that we are among the world’s leading designers of advanced diving & construction vessels”.

“With only 30 similarly-size but older vessels in this class worldwide, and the requirement in the industry for safe yet fast-response vessels, UDS is poised to deliver such high standards of quality to the deep and ultra-deep water projects. The “Red Class 6027” combines the practicality, safety, reliability, efficiency and impressive subsea technology. We are confident that it will exceed the expectations of oil majors and offshore operators,” says Sheldon Hutton, Chief Executive Officer of UDS.

The contract includes an option for one vessel of the same type.

In addition, it will have a 400 ton crane which has depth capability to 5200 m single fall and 3200m dual fall. The vessel’s 1,500m² open deck space and deck strength 10 ton m² can facilitate a wide range of project required machinery and equipment.

UDS’s vessel is prepared for world‐wide operations in the deep and ultra-deep oil and gas sector projects. The contract, marks UDS’s strategy to provide vessels with high tech solutions to the offshore industry worldwide. Leveraging on its years of experience in the subsea industry, UDS has combined the high tech, practicality and high safety standards, to design and build this DP3 24-man twin bell diving support construction vessel.

“We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels catered for the future market. The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimized and customized for relevance in the oil and gas industry. I am thankful to our partners, and supporters, especially MT, DNV, FTE, ABB, Huisman, Rolls-Royce, Wartsila and CMHI, who have supported the company's vision, and realizing our plans to build these vessels.
