CHANTIERS DE L’ATLANTIQUE TO BUILD A NEW OASIS-CLASS CRUISE SHIP

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCL) just gave confirmation of an order for Chantiers de l’Atlantique, according to a previous option agreement, to build a new Oasis-class cruise ship, due for delivery in the fall of 2023.

“At her delivery, she will be the twenty third cruise ship built by our yard for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, and we are especially proud of it”, states Laurent Castaing, General Manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
 
According to the yard's LinkedIn page, her yard number will be A35 instead of D34:

Royal Caribbean Announces Plans for Sixth Oasis-Class Ship

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced Monday it had reached an agreement with French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique to order a sixth Oasis-class ship scheduled for delivery in the fall of 2023.

Royal Caribbean’s latest ship order is contingent upon financing, which the cruise line expects to complete in the second or third quarter of 2019. The company’s fifth Oasis-Class ship is due for delivery in spring 2021.

“It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Oasis-class ship,” Royal Caribbean CEO Richard D. Fain said. “This order is a reflection of the exceptional performance of this vessel class and the extraordinary partnership between Chantiers de l'Atlantique and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.”

“This is the twenty-third cruise ship that RCL will be building at our shipyard, and we are especially proud of it,” Chantiers de l'Atlantique General Manager Laurent Castaing said. “The order reflects the confidence our customer puts on us, based on the exceptional quality of our long-term co-operation between the two companies and on our capacity to bring innovative solutions to meet our customer's expectations.”

The cruise line started the year by achieving several honors at the 2019 Travvy Awards, including a gold statuette as the Best Cruise Line – Overall; Best Cruise Line – Contemporary; Best Cruise Entertainment; and Best Cruise Line in the U.S./Canada and the Caribbean/Bahamas.

This Oasis Class is on one side really impressing, big interior spaces, impressing interior-architecture etc. and with a lot of attractions, sports, entertainments, shows and other things to do onboard.
But where to relax and chilling if you are tired after hours in the waterslides and other sports etc. ?
Where is a big cozy classic sundeck at the end of the ship with comfortable furniture, space and a (pool-)bar and free sea-view to the Horizont ?
Just chilling and relaxing in the sun only maybe for one, two hours ? A little bit not loud relaxing music and a cool drink in the hand ?

A few big ferries offer this (f.ex. Viking Glory) - but i can not see such a quite calm big relaxing "view"-area on these Oasis ships (and a lot of other biggest cruise-ships are similar).
It is because of the big entertainment-area at the end of the ship and also because of each corner on each floor is full with private cabins and suites with their private balconies = more profit for the company than people dreaming in the sun only... .

So often smaller cruise-ships for only 2000, 3000 people offer too less special attractions, too less big sport-areas etc. -
and these biggest Oasis-ships offers mainly only active (sport-) and entertainment-attractions - but without any classic cruise-feeling.
For me a well mix of these both complete different cruise-concepts would be the best.

Oasis-class, "1000" floors, "1000" things, "1000" attractions, sports etc. - but no quite sundeck with space and comfort lounge furniture and free sea-view:
