I have contacted Lituania DFDS office and was told that AURA will most likely commence end of march and LUNA in July 2022

At Christmas awaited in Singapore... . 4 years from order to "traffic-start" ca. in march 2022... .
Really interesting ferries... , 2 very big asymmetrical chimneys and a very special ships-bow, all other new ferries 2021/22/23 (f. ex. Viking Glory, Tallink Megastar, TT new Nils Holgersson, Honfleur, Stenas E-Flexer, Finnsirius, Badji Mokhtar III, TT-Australia-RaumaMarine, Manxman, Queen Jenuvia etc.) has another ships-bow... .
Maybe only the newest 206m Visentini for Corsica Linea "A Galeotta" and the new Moby Fantasy/Magic has a similar ships-bow as the DFDS Aura/Luna.
But which ships-bow is better ?
Which means less fuel-consumption ?

Can't imagine that the design of the bow above the water line is significant for the fuel-consumption. We are now back to the "fashion" 100 years ago.

Yes - "Titanic-Design"... :D
But i can not believe that someone (naval architects, ferry-companies, ship-designers etc.) choose a - in these times today - completely new ships-bow just for fun, for fashion-reasons... .

Maybe it is better in rough sea with high waves ? Cutting better through the waves ?
Or less rock / swing / sway of the ship in high waves ? More quiete smooth going ?
I remember my most stormy ferry-trip many years ago with the 1979 built Diana 2 from Viking-Line in use for TT-Line from Rostock to Trelleborg in a heavy october-storm in the 90ies with full speed to hold the timetable of exactly 5 hours (faster than today). The complete ships-bow banged loud and hart on top of each wave... the most people on board have seen again her last meal... most other ferries has already stopped operation. Maybe the "Titanic-design" cut in these cases more through the waves than bang from top on the waves ?

I doubt that a bow like that would mean smoother going. Look at the new ferries and cruise ships being ordered, many of them have that type of bow, or even "older", like the AVRORA, lying as a museum ship in St. Petersburg.

Then I rather believe in the "viking ship type" of bow that the latest cruise ships for Arctic & Antarctic sailings have got.

Talking about rememberable ferry trips: I never forget the banging in the hull of ESTONIA at Easter 1994, as she was plowing through the ice at full speed on her way to Tallinn – especially concidering what happened to her four months later.

Flott video, men jeg vet ikke om jeg ble så veldig imponert av interiøret. Veldig inndelt, og derved delvis trangt interiør med store, nakne veggflater.

Mhmmm, ok, but maybe it is more "hyggelig" and more quiete than a very big open hall like an university-mensa.
And at the walls maybe coming pictures in the future. In each case much better than the actually ferries between Karlshamn/Kiel and Klaipeda.

Actually underway between Malta and Gibraltar with fast 23 knots with planned arrival in Karlshamn 16.jan. .

The interior looks way better than GSI's recent Ro-Pax "Badji Mokhtar III". Tetris-inspired carpets were quite unexpected from DFDS.

I am not too impressed by the steel quality, however. Just look at the middle post/stairwell housing on the car deck. It looks really thin, and you can even see the "metal skeketon" behind, and the paint job does not help either (looks like rust behind the blue paint). I cannot really say that my expectations for a 900 million DKK vessel of such enormous size were any higher, but I would much rather buy a high-end vessel from the beginning, and expect future cost-savings (fewer dock visits, maintenance etc.) to pay off in the future. If I were DFDS, there is no doubt I would have chosen a German, Japanese or even S. Korean yard instead. (Human rights and ethic use of labour should also be questions to consider when buying).

Aura / Luna are concepted really mainly as freight-ferry. Cars are accepted also, but this is not the main-business.
And for this i think the interior is good, for this kind of a "working-horse-ferry" a "Mercedes" or a "Ferrari-Design" is not needed.

Nice picture with historic background :)
AURA SEAWAYS is in the timetable Karlshamn-Klaipeda from 24.Jan. and LUNA SEAWAYS is in the timetable from 11.Aug. .
Free available for other routes will be then KERRY and OPTIMA SEAWAYS.

Maybe the chartered KERRY will then given back to STENA RoRo ?
Or KERRY will replace the chartered "old" VISBY on Rosslare-Dunkerque ? Optima Seaways is to slowly for this route with max. 21,5 knots... . Maybe then a change with SIRENA SEAWAYS ? The faster Sirena Seaways (24 knots, her timetable ends 31.july !) change in august from Kapellskär-Paldiski to Rosslare-Dunkerque (then together with Regina Seaways 25 knots) and the more slowly ferry OPTIMA SEAWAYS goes to Paldiski after arrival from LUNA ??? Regina Seaways is operating with 23 knots as medium speed actually Rosslare-Dunkerque... - for Kapellskär-Paldiski it is actually only 17,5 knots. With Sirena Seaways 600 beds i hope also that Rosslare-Dunkerque then will be open for passengers also... .

Kiel-Klaipeda continues this year with ATHENA SEAWAYS and VICTORIA SEAWAYS.

AURA SEAWAYS is now in regulary use Klaipeda-Karlshamn, KERRY is going back to Stena-RoRo and directly further to Balearia (Charter).
VISBY is actually leaving annual docking in Landskrona and will return to the DFDS Ireland-route.
