VARD SECURES CONTRACT FOR ONE PLATFORM SUPPLY VESSEL FOR CARLOTTA OFFSHORE

Singapore, 19 May 2014 – Vard Holdings Limited (“VARD”), one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, is pleased to announce that it has secured another contract for the design and construction of one Platform Supply Vessel (“PSV”) for Carlotta Offshore Ltd.
The vessel is a multifunctional PSV of VARD 1 08 design with a total length of 81 meters, beam of 18 meters and a cargo deck area of 830 m2. The vessel will be prepared for standby, rescue, firefighting and oil recovery operations.

The VARD 1-SERIES comprises a wide range of Platform Supply Vessels designed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway. The vessels are designed with high focus on cargo capacity and excellent maneuvering capabilities combined with low fuel consumption.

Overall length : 81 m | Breadth 18 m | 4000 dwt

Delivery is scheduled from Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam in 3Q 2015. With this newbuilding, VARD has three vessels under construction for Carlotta Offshore.

TERMINATION OF CONTRACTS

The Board of Directors of Vard Holdings Limited (the "Company") wishes to inform that on 12 March 2015, the Company was notified that two affiliates of E.R. Offshore, our customer, have filed for insolvency at a local court in Germany.

The Company’s subsidiary is currently constructing one PSV for each of these companies at its shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam. It has received a 10% installment for one of the vessels.

On 13 March 2015 the Group terminated the two shipbuilding contracts. The Group does not expect to repay the prepayment received, and expects to be able to sell the vessels at a price that will cover the expected construction cost less the prepayment received.

The impact of the termination and the proposed resale is expected not to have a material effect on the earnings per share of the Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2015.

This 82m (269ft) yacht is based on a proven deep-water hull with unrivalled seakeeping abilities, capable of exploring uncharted waters and remaining at sea for extended periods with near-zero environmental impact thanks to the latest hybrid propulsion and eco-management systems.

But what makes this project so special is the Bannenberg & Rowell design work, creating a luxurious, sophisticated and highly functional yacht across its vast decks and interior. Explorer must-haves include a helicopter pad, tender and submarine launch pads, a dive centre and its own commercial dock, with plenty of space left over for a large swimming pool. Inside there are plans in place for a 16-cabin, 32-guest deep-exploration layout or a more private 12-cabin version that includes two VIP duplex suits, each with its own observation lounge.

The sheer size and scale of the VARD means it represents a uniquely interesting option for an imaginative and adventurous individual or consortium keen to take full control over their explorer yacht’s design and specification. Ultimately, the 269ft long VARD can offer a near blank canvas aft of its towering bows, with complete freedom on layout and facilities.

Due to the advanced nature of the build, the buyer will also be able to enjoy one of the most capable explorer yachts on the water within two years, whereby a new project of this size would require around five years.

Kjølen på denne var strekt allerede 19. Desember 2014 og med overlevering 6. April 2022 så har det gått lang tid...
